Hotel Kämp is the iconic heart of Helsinki, which first opened its doors in 1887. The hotel reopened in 1999 after a major refurbishment. Now, the hotel, a symbol of classic luxury, is being refurbished once again, revitalising the heart of the city center. The refurbishment will be carried out in phases, with the fully renovated hotel due to be completed in early 2026. The hotel will be open throughout the refurbishment.

The first authentic grand hôtel in Finland, Hotel Kämp, embarks on a comprehensive refurbishment. Throughout this transformation, the entire hotel's ambiance and interior will be renewed, technology will be modernized, and the overall guest experience will be elevated to new heights. The refurbishment will be conducted with utmost respect for the hotel's history and character, ensuring that it evolves to meet the expectations of both classic luxury hotels and the demands of today and the future.

"The first phase of the refurbishment program has been completed and in October 2024, we introduced 119 refurbished Deluxe and Premium Deluxe rooms. We have also opened the pop-up restaurant Notes by Kämp, which serves guests while Kämp Bar and Brasserie Kämp are closed for refurbishments," says Hotel Kämp’s General Manager Tuomas Liewendahl.

In the second phase of the refurbishment project, which began in fall 2024, the rooms on the Kluuvikatu side as well as the entrance and restaurant spaces on the Pohjois-Esplanadi side will be refurbished and are expected to be completed by August 2025.

Before this in May 2025, Kämp’s expansion wing, the Helander’s house project, will be completed, allowing guests access to 22 brand new rooms and suites located within the newly integrated section of Hotel Kämp. The Transformation of Helander House includes both the facade and improved, more energy-efficient heating and ventilation systems. Additionally, the property's current office spaces will be converted into hotel rooms.

Hotel Kämp is expanding with 31 rooms and opening a 1,200 square meter wellness club

Hotel Kämp will undergo a major expansion, adding 3,100 square meters to its premises. Including the historic Helander House on North Esplanade which is currently undergoing a transformation into an extension of the iconic Hotel Kämp. Moreover, Hotel Kämp will introduce a new wellness oasis with water elements as part of its expanded amenities. This expansion aims to enhance Helsinki's hospitality offerings, attracting more visitors and events to the city while providing enriching experiences for locals.
