WeCare

Hotel Kämp has been part of Helsinki since 1887 — and for us, that history comes with a responsibility how we operate also today. Together with our parent company, we share a tradition of looking after our guests, our employees, the community, and the environment. We call this work WeCare.

WeCare focus areas at Hotel Kämp

01. People & Diversity

At Hotel Kämp, hospitality isn't only something we offer our guests — it's something every employee should feel too. Our diversity is a strength across the hotel: our 100-member staff represents over 30 different nationalities. We value all our staff equally, and we all work by the same rules and responsibilities."

02. High Quality Food

Organic and local ingredients are our priority. We also treat well-planned menus and portion sizes as part of our food philosophy, helping us minimize waste. Our menus include special diet options and list the country of origin for our ingredients. We avoid any ingredients on Strawberry's Red List, developed with WWF's Seafood Guide.

03. Responsible Trade

We take care of people and the planet through ethical trading. We work closely with our suppliers to help them meet their own responsibility goals. As part of the Strawberry community, our value chain is held to strict ethical demands.

04. Responsibility in Operations

We aim to operate our hotel with more positive impact on the planet. With our persistent work, we have obtained the Nordic Swan ecolabel certificate, and our property has received the LEED Gold environmental certificate. In our daily operations we keep track and further our understanding on waste management, reduce consumption of electricity and water, recycle according to the recycling system on the property, and minimize the consumption of paper and single-use products.

We have been recognized as a Sustainability Leader by The Leading Hotels of the World. This designation helps signify Leading Hotels members who have been certified according to standards aligned with the Global Sustainable Tourism Council Criteria. It serves as a testament to community, culture, and environmental responsibility. Learn more about this program by clicking here.

Visit Finland has awarded us the Sustainable Travel Finland label, which shows our commitment to sustainable tourism and responsible operations. Companies that have been awarded the label have successfully completed the Sustainable Travel Finland programme and meet the criteria of the award. The label is third-party certified and guarantees high-quality and long-term development in the provision of sustainable travel services. Read more about it here.

05. Community

Hotel Kämp is a vital part of the rich history and culture of Helsinki, and we contribute to keeping our neighbourhood lively and attractive. We collaborate with organizations that do important work for our community, such as HelsinkiMissio, and We 4 You. We proudly fly the flag during Helsinki Pride, and we're always open to new collaborations with organizations that share our values.

WeCare in our Company

Our responsible work at Hotel Kämp isn't finished, and we aim to keep making progress across our WeCare focus areas. As part of Strawberry, we're also helping build a more responsible hospitality industry across the Nordics.
