Hotel Kämp Sells a Collection of Interior Items from Its Rooms – “Now Everyone Can Own a Piece of Kämp’s History”

Iconic Hotel Kämp is being renewed, and as part of the transformation, a collection of interior items removed from its hotel rooms will be sold. The items will be available from 15 January 2024 through tavararahaksi.fi. The online service makes it possible for people throughout Finland to purchase a piece of Helsinki’s cultural history. Proceeds from the sale will be donated to HelsinkiMissio’s work to combat loneliness.

Hotel Kämp, a true grand hotel representing classic luxury, will be completely refurbished in phases over the next two years while continuing to serve guests as usual throughout the transformation. The hotel’s interiors will also be updated, and its current interior items will be retired. The items will be sold so that these unique pieces, each carrying a part of the hotel’s cultural history, can find a new purpose.

“Iconic Hotel Kämp carries an extraordinary wealth of stories and a remarkable history. The hotel’s walls, as well as its interior items, have seen and heard a great deal. We wanted these distinctive objects, each with a story of its own, to become part of a new story in Finnish homes. That is why we chose to arrange the sale through a service accessible to everyone,” says Tuomas Liewendahl, General Manager of Hotel Kämp.

“This is also a wonderful opportunity to bring home an item that may hold special memories for anyone who has spent unforgettable moments surrounded by these furnishings,” Liewendahl continues.

The interior items will be available through tavararahaksi.fi from 15 January 2024, with delivery available throughout Finland. The first items offered for sale will come from the Deluxe rooms scheduled for the initial phase of the refurbishment, including decorative cushions, bedspreads, lamps, curtains and furniture. Prices will suit a wide range of budgets, from approximately ten euros up to 250 euros.

As the refurbishment moves into its next phase in autumn, the plan is also to sell items and furniture removed from other room categories, suites and the hotel’s restaurants.

Proceeds Donated to Charity

Hotel Kämp has a long history in the heart of Helsinki and is an important part of the city’s cultural heritage. Today, it remains important for Kämp to contribute to the development and vitality of Helsinki’s city centre.

“Our surroundings are important and dear to us. Whenever the opportunity arises, we want to give something back to the community. We felt strongly that the proceeds from these items should be donated to charity, and we consider HelsinkiMissio’s work to combat loneliness extremely important. We are therefore directing the proceeds from this sale to support their valuable work,” Liewendahl says.

We are deeply grateful for this donation to help reduce loneliness.
